In response to the tremendous strain that the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on small businesses, Miller Canfield and the nonprofit Michigan Community Resources teamed with the Lawyers for Good Government Foundation to launch the Detroit COVID-19 Remote Legal Clinic. The clinic provides pro bono counsel to small businesses and nonprofit organizations, offering guidance on the stimulus and pandemic relief packages related to the Paycheck Protection Program, issues related to reopening business, and other pandemic-related legal questions. While open to small businesses and nonprofits throughout the Metro Detroit area, the clinic focuses its outreach to support the small businesses in the City of Detroit that are the backbone of economic vitality and quality of life in the neighborhoods.
In partnership with the Osborn Business Association in Northeast Detroit, Miller Canfield attorneys provide legal counseling on business basics to new and aspiring business owners who are members of the OBA and assist them with organizing their LLCs and other legal needs, free of charge.
