Robert J. "Bob" Schillerstrom brings decades of legal, government, and public finance experience to his role as Of Counsel at our firm. Bob advises clients on complex matters involving government relations, public-private partnerships (P3s), opportunity zones, strategic public policy, community relations, real estate tax issues, and zoning matters. He has extensive experience working with government entities, serving as bond counsel, underwriters’ counsel, and disclosure counsel on a wide range of public finance transactions.
Bob has been a prominent figure in Illinois public service and politics, holding several significant positions, including Chairman of the Illinois Tollway Board of Directors (2015–2019), where he oversaw the 294-mile tollway system and a $1.45 billion annual budget. Under his leadership, the Tollway championed economic growth, infrastructure improvements, and increased opportunities for minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses. Previously, Bob served three terms as Chairman of the DuPage County Board, where he established a reputation for fiscal conservatism and innovative infrastructure initiatives that consistently delivered high-quality services while reducing property taxes.
Bob’s public service also includes environmental leadership roles. He has been involved with numerous conservation organizations and is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Morton Arboretum. Before joining our firm, Bob was a partner at Ice Miller LLP, where he expanded the firm’s presence in Illinois and advised on public and municipal finance issues. He resides in Naperville, Illinois, with his wife, Mary Beth, and they have three children.
