Othella Tate is a member of our trademark and intellectual property team.
Under the supervision of the trademark attorney, Othella is responsible for conducting preliminary clearance searches for trademarks and preparing and filing U.S. trademark applications, Statements of Use, Requests for Extensions of Time, Affidavits under Sections 8 & 15, renewal applications, assignments and other trademark documents with the USPTO, as well as documents with the TTAB in connection with opposition and cancellation proceedings.
Othella communicates regularly with foreign counsel in connection with the filing and examination of international trademark applications in foreign jurisdictions, including Madrid and CTM applications. She is responsible for maintaining the firm's trademark database and domestic and international trademark portfolios.
Othella performs IP due diligence searches on behalf of clients of the firm involved in larger and small mergers and acquisitions, confirming the IP involved in the sale and filing the appropriate assignment documents with the USPTO.
