Kevin J. Moody’s practice area focuses on Native American law, including such areas as gaming (IGRA), Indian taxation, treaty rights and compact litigation. He also handles matters related to state gaming laws, including the state lottery and horse racing. In addition, Kevin practices extensively in the area of health-care law/insurance and represents clients in state regulatory and administrative hearings on insurance issues, including ERISA disability. He also represents health-care provider and trade association clients on a wide variety of issues related to limited-scope health-care professions such as optometrists, chiropractors and dental specialists.

“Every client is different, and both the reward and the challenge in the practice of law come from tailoring the approach to the client’s particular needs.”
Kevin J. Moody

Experience

Kevin and his team helped the Michigan Economic Development Corporation secure a favorable settlement with the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians and the Little River Band on their refusal to pay 8% money due under their compacts with the State of Michigan. The tribes claimed the tribal compacts were implicated when the Michigan Lottery introduced Club Keno in bars and restaurants across the state.

"It was very rewarding to successfully work on a matter that went to the very lifeblood of the client at a critical time."
