Michelle Crockett Elected as Fellow in College of Labor and Employment Lawyers
Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that principal attorney Michelle Crockett has been elected by her national peers as a fellow of the prestigious College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers is a nonprofit organization founded in 1995 as a professional organization to honor leading lawyers and has evolved to become a leading resource for the community, the judiciary, the government and academia. Members promote excellence in the practice of law by setting high standards of professionalism and civility and by sharing their experience and knowledge. Only the most distinguished leaders in the legal community are nominated and subsequently inducted into the College.
"Michelle is a highly respected and dedicated leader among lawyers," said Miller Canfield CEO Michael McGee. "She embodies the professionalism and high standards that the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers require of its fellows. We congratulate her and thank her for her outstanding service to clients and to the legal community."
Crockett is a principal attorney and Miller Canfield's Hiring, Diversity and Development Principal. She leads the firm's hiring of attorneys, recruitment, diversity and inclusion initiatives, mentoring programs, professional development and continuing legal education (CLE) initiatives. Her practice focuses on defending Fortune 500 companies and public-sector clients, against a variety of employment-related claims. She conducts internal investigations which involve claims of harassment, retaliation, discrimination, malfeasance and misappropriation of funds.
Crockett teaches Race in the Law, K-12 Education Law, and Employment Law at the University of Michigan Law School. She chairs the State Bar of Michigan's Labor and Employment Law Section, and is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation Board and the Detroit Regional LGBT Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She also serves as the chair of the Michigan Community Resources Board of Directors.
Crockett has earned numerous honors and recognitions, including: Michigan Lawyers Weekly Leaders in the Law, 2020; the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association Trailblazer Award, 2019; Leadership Oakland Leader of Leaders, 2018; Crain's Notable Women Lawyers in Michigan, 2017; and Michigan Chronicle Women of Excellence, 2015.
Crockett will be officially inducted into the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers later this year.
